Happy November! I hope that you all are staying healthy and safe. It is the goal of the Matrix Head Start- Birth to Five program to provide you with quality care and updated information regarding the Health/Nutrition Service Area.
Head Start/Early Head Start students must obtain complete physical and dental examinations, hearing and vision screening, lab results, and updated immunizations. To assist parents and ease the burden, Matrix Head Start has community partners to assist with physical/ dental exams. Covenant Community Care and U of D Mercy Dental are available for office visits and Tele Dental visits for students. Our Health/Nutrition Team will perform hearing and vision screenings, and referrals can be provided for parents that are having difficulties obtaining an appointment for immunizations. Parents can obtain information from the Health/Nutrition Team for assistance with any of the necessary screenings mentioned above.
Children that require an Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP) are required to have the necessary documentation completed before receiving services. The Health and Nutrition team is available to support parents in obtaining the necessary documentation so that the children can engage in a safe and healthy learning environment while having the necessary medications or dietary accommodations.
We encourage our parents to continue teaching their child/ren good handwashing techniques and toothbrushing in the home setting.
With Great Regards,
